Short tip: Mount Linux volumes under Windows

Sometimes it might be necessary to mount Linux file systems under Windows.

This can be done very easily using a tool named "DiskInternals Linux Reader". This tool is able to mount the following file system types in read-only mode:

  • ext2/3/4
  • reiserFS/reiser4
  • HFS(+)
  • UFS2

Be noticed that the tool only mounts these file system types in read-only mode to preserve the integrity of the appropriate file system. If you plan to mount volumes also in read-write mode, you have to use other tools:

Linux Reader

The Linux Reader utility consists of an explorer program which can be easily used to browse the Windows-unknown file system. There is also an integrated preview function for configuration files. The programm handling reminds on Windows Explorer - the tool is mostly self-explanatory.

The tool is free and can be found here: [click me!]
