Short tip: Update Delock WLAN Easy USB Switch 11828 Tasmota firmware

For little money, the Delock WLAN EasyUSB 11828 is a small USB A socket that can be switched via WLAN (2.4 GHz). The ports not only carry the power pins – USB 2.0 is also supported. The device is based on the ESP8266 and supports MQTT in addition to HTTP.

After my switch had been gathering dust on the shelf for a long time, it was finally put to use and was to be integrated into Home Assistant. Thanks to the Tasmota firmware used, this shouldn't have been a problem – but in my case, the device was not recognised.

A look at the release notes showed that my switch was using the very outdated version 7.x. The web interface couldn't find a newer version – a behaviour that can also be seen with outdated Shelly plugs.

Dialog for firmware updates

A direct upgrade to the current stable version 15.0.1 failed. The following sub-steps were necessary to get the device to cooperate:

  1. 8.5.1
  2. 9.1.0
  3. 14.6.0
  4. 15.0.1
Note

The switch only supports the stripped-down lite firmware!

The device was then configured via the Tasmota Home Assistant integration:
